“My place was rock and soil, sun and dark red wine.
I was plowing, I was seeding and I was singing about you, my nation!
I dreamed about you, for long- long nights over the waves!
My place was like the smile, an everyday dream,
someone sold it out, someone ruined it like borrowed merchandise.”
With this melody, by beloved Nikos Xilouris, talking to our hearts, we took the way up to Psiloritis. We made a first stop at Anogia at the central square for a cup of coffee. Vasilis Vouisdakis welcomed us there, just ‘Vasilis” as he asked us to call him. He was a professor of sociology at the University of Crete. We thanked him for his welcoming and his treats. Then we visited the chapel of Saint Hyacinth. We prayed together with the Saint of Love/ Devine Eros inside the chapel. We thank Loudovikos of Anogion for giving us the keys.
From there we went to IDAION ANDRON. In the idyllic landscape, where the snow was alternated with the green surface of the mountain and the eagles flew above us, we -for a few moments- identified with King Minos, who was receiving the Law, the sacred Knowledge directly from the gods. And we dreamed!!!
With our hearts blooming from emotions and filled with joy, we ended up to a small tavern where we enjoyed local specialties.
Wishing that our next trip is not too far…..
